Richard Laurence Foster

Richard Laurence Foster, 81, of Massillon, OH, went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2026. He was born on September 26, 1944, in Cleveland, OH to the late Percy and Frieda Foster. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.

Richard shared 59 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary. Together they built a loving family. He is survived by his four children: Rick (Brenda) Foster of Bolivar, TN, Randy (Eva) Foster and Ryan “Scott” Foster of Brewster, and Ginger (Mike) Ott of Massillon. Richard was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren: Hunter, Catherine, Brian, Alexandria, and Brianna Foster, Jeffrey Farris, Jasmine, Isaiah, and Elijah Foster, Tyler and Jessica Foster, and Justin, Jacob, and Joel Ott, 3 great-granddaughters: Ellie, Elayna, and Katerina, and many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by 2 siblings: Gloria (Bob) Flounders and Roger Foster. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Foster, 2 sisters, Emily Foster and Virginia Casady, and 1 brother, David Foster.

A few of Richard’s favorite things were spending time with family, watching Cleveland Browns and Ohio State football, and playing spades around the table during holiday gatherings. He spent many years on the Sippo Lake docks fishing and enjoyed being outside taking meticulous care of his yard. 

A graveside service will be held in his honor on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:30 am at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Chapel located at 3655 Wales Ave NW, Massillon, OH  44646. Following the service, at 1:00 pm, there will be a reception held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 7707 Market Ave N, Canton, OH  44721

Richard will be remembered with love and greatly missed.
