Mark J. Kuzma passed away on May 1, 2026, in Salem, Ohio, after battling ALS for over a year. He was born on November 2, 1966 in Youngstown, Ohio, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and courage. He was 59 years old.
Mark was a devoted father, son, and brother, whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around him. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Ava E. Kuzma of Canfield; his mother, Barbara of Poland; his siblings, Dr. Mary Kay Kuzma of Columbus, Lynn Kuzma, Lori Kuzma, and Matthew Kuzma; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Kuzma.
A proud graduate of The Ohio State University, Mark attended Vanderbilt University before completing his degree in microbiology at Ohio State in 1989. His education reflected both his intelligence and his determination, qualities that would continue to guide him throughout his career and his life. He carried his Buckeye pride with him always and remained a loyal supporter of Ohio State throughout the years.
Mark built a respected career in the diagnostics industry, beginning with several years at Roche Diagnostics before joining Dako North America, where he served as IDN Manager of Corporate Accounts. In his professional life, he was known for his reliability, his thoughtful approach, and his ability to build meaningful relationships. He brought integrity and dedication to his work, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike. His career was a reflection of his strong work ethic and his commitment to doing things well.
Outside of work, Mark found joy in the simple and lasting pleasures of life. He loved golf and appreciated the companionship. He enjoyed traveling and valued the experiences, memories, and perspectives that came with seeing new places.
Mark will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those blessed to share in his life. Though his time on earth was far too brief, the impact of his presence was enduring, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to those who loved him.
