NILES - Mark Leland Deneen, man of faith and child of God, born October 20, 1949 lived a life of faith in the service of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, died June 21, 2025.
Mark was married faithfully to Marlene M. Deneen for 57+ years. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; children, John M. (Michelle) Deneen, Kathleen M. (Kenny) Agler, and David J. (Chris Ann) Deneen. He was the grandfather of 13 grandchildren and three, soon to be five great grandchildren. Mark was the son of Homer D. Deneen and Catherine L. Deneen. He was a loving brother to Dayle (Buck) Jacobs, Trinka (Kirk) Schevlin, and Lisa Martin.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Catherine Deneen and his sister, Dayle Jacobs.
Rev. Mark Deneen ministered 40+ years to multiple churches in the Nazarene denomination in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Most recently on the Northeast Ohio District. Mark was passionate about his faith and remained active even after retirement filling pulpits as an interim pastor as needed and teaching Sunday School class at Hubbard Church of the Nazarene.
Mark was a great idea man, always thinking of new and unique ways to do ministry and how to improve the environment around him. He was resourceful in a pinch. He was able to use the talents God gave him to be frugal and earn extra funds as needed; whether it was painting signs for small businesses, making costumes for his kids, doing his own body work on the family car or making candles for the church and unique gifts. He had an intense work ethic that has been passed down to his children and many of his grandchildren. Mark was willing to burn the candle at both ends as needed to get things done in education, ministry, and when providing for his family.
Mark loved to listen to gospel quartet groups and grew up singing the harmonies of hymns with his family and was often heard whistling. He passed his love of singing praise to God to his three children. He also loved going out to breakfast to spend time with his friend and confidant Rev. Mike Byus. He truly enjoyed their discussions and liked bouncing new ideas off of Pastor Mike, as long as he remembered the notebook he wrote them down in.
Mark was loved and cherished as a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, an uncle, a pastor, a teacher, and a friend. He will be greatly missed for a time, but we are looking forward to seeing him again in heaven.
