Denise Ann Hanlon-Sinchak, known affectionately as Dee to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025 with her family by her side at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, due to heart failure. Born on January 17, 1952, in Youngstown, she was a beacon of light and joy throughout her 73 years.
Denise's early life was marked by her graduation from Chaney High School in 1973. She ventured out to California in the mid-70s to pursue a career as a model and actress. She graced television screens across the nation, appearing in several national commercials.
Denise returned to Youngstown in the early 80s. It was there that she became a popular daytime bartender at the Moonraker in Boardman. She was a true people person and that made her a favorite among the patrons. In the late 80s she formed Deebos Steel with her former husband, Steve Sinchak.
Denise's life was underpinned by her Catholic faith, and she was a member of St. Christine Church. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life and inspired her to live with love and kindness.
An avid tennis player, Denise enjoyed the competition and was a member of the Chaney High School tennis team. In true Hanlon family tradition, she had a passion for automobiles, with a particular fondness for old convertibles, cherishing her rides in her 1967 Cutlass. she loved country music and old rock and roll, and was rarely seen not wearing a pair of cowboy boots.
Denise was an animal lover, providing a loving home to many cats, and a few dogs, over the years. Her generous and loving nature was evident in every aspect of her life, from her care for animals to the warmth she extended to everyone she met.
Denise is survived by her son, Richard Yaslik and his fiancee Cara Kelty; her brother, John Hanlon, and sister-in-law, Christine Hanlon; her sister, Josephine Taylor, and brother-in-law, Mark Taylor. Also several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, John Hanlon; her mother, Ann Hanlon; and her sister, Janice Hanlon; and former husband Richard A. Yaslik.
Denise will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and friend. She will be profoundly missed, but her memory will forever be cherished and celebrated.
