David Ontko

April 29, 1963 – June 25, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Ontko, who went to be with the Lord on June 25, 2025, at the age of 62. David was born on April 29, 1963, to Jeannie and Ken Ontko, and lived a life marked by joy, generosity, and unwavering faith.

For 41 years, David dedicated himself to Dominion (Enbridge Gas), where he was known for his strong work ethic, infectious smile, and ability to light up any room. He was the life of every gathering, always ready with a joke, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement.

David’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved children, Regina Zarzeczny (David), Kayla Yokoyama(Thomas), Cameron Ontko, and Connor Ontko. He was a loving and proud “Peepaw” to five grandchildren who brought endless joy to his life: Alexis, Elias, Jim, Ava, and Owen.

He is also survived by his sisters, Rachell Kawiecki (Rick) and Cindy Ontko, along with many extended family members, friends, and coworkers whose lives were touched by his warmth and kindness. David shared many years with Brenda, the mother of his children, with whom they built a foundation for their kids.

David loved Jesus deeply and lived his life with kindness and faith. As his granddaughter Ava sweetly said, “Peepaw has wings”—and we take comfort knowing he is now rejoicing in Heaven.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on July 6, 2025 from 2-5pm at German Central in Parma, Ohio where all who knew and loved him are welcome to attend, share memories, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

There will be a mass for David at Saint Ambrose Church, 929 Pearl Road Brunswick, Ohio on July 11 at 10:00 am.

Though he is no longer with us here, David’s spirit, laughter, and love will live on in all of us.
