Cregg Albert Heinselman, 66, of Niles, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 11, 1960, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Frank Albert and Donna Jean Marzi Heinselman.
Cregg was a man of simple pleasures and deep devotion to those he loved. He found joy in the rhythms of everyday life, whether tending to his garden, cheering on his favorite teams, or spending time with the animals that held a special place in his heart. His love of sports was a constant thread throughout his life, bringing him together with friends and family over shared rivalries, celebrated victories, and the camaraderie that only a good game can inspire. In his garden, Cregg found peace and purpose, nurturing plants with patience and care. His gentle way with animals reflected the kindness that defined his character, a quiet compassion that those closest to him knew well.
Cregg was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School. He worked as an assembler at General Motors and as a driving instructor at driving schools for many years. Above all, Cregg was a devoted husband, father, and brother. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow.
Cregg is survived by his lifelong partner, Heather Schmidt; his daughters, Michelle Capshaw and Hannah (Jordan) Bustos; his sons, Corey Heinselman, Stanley (Jenny) Schmidt, and Eliott Schmidt; his brothers, Ken (Michele) Heinselman and Dave (Pat) Heinselman; and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eric Heinselman; and his sister, Leanne Foley.
Cregg will be remembered as a man who lived with quiet strength and steady warmth, someone who showed his love not through grand gestures but through presence, consistency, and care. He may rest, but the seeds of kindness he planted in the lives of those around him will continue to bloom for years to come.
