YOUNGSTOWN - It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Charles Leroy York Jr., known as Johnny, who entered into eternal rest on November 21, 2025, in Youngstown, Ohio.
Born on March 25, 1957, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Johnny's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a storied career, and a legacy of kindness that touched the hearts of many. Johnny was the cherished son of the late Charles L. York Sr. and Juanita (Stout) York.
His early life in New Castle laid the foundation for a man who would be known for his strength and integrity. After graduating from Hubbard High School, Johnny answered the call of duty and proudly served his country as a Navy veteran. His time in the service instilled in him a profound sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried into his subsequent career as a construction worker.
In the company of his beloved wife, Ovia "Sis" (Seabolt) York. Johnny found the truest form of partnership. Their 46-year marriage was a testament to love. Johnny took immense pride in his role as a father to Tammy Pletcher, April (Brian) Williams, and Dean "DJ" Spradlin, all of whom reside in Youngstown, Ohio, and Masury, Ohio. As a papa to Makala, Charles, Charlene, Jessica, Cierra, Alyssa, and Kirsten (Tyler), and a great papa to four with two more on the way, Johnny's legacy will continue to blossom through generations.
His absence will leave a void that cannot be filled. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be absent from our hearts.
